Oswald the Lucky Rabbit by Disney Dooney & Bourke

Finally, a Dooney and Bourke collection featuring Oswald! The Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Collection by Disney Dooney & Bourke was released on Disney Store Japan on April 25, 2023. The collection was released in the US during the Dooney and Bourke Online Tent Sale in December 2023. 

This collection celebrates Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s original animated cartoon character. Oswald was created by Walt Disney and head animator Ub Iwerks for Universal Pictures in 1927. In 1928, Walt Disney lost control of Oswald. This set him on a course of needing to create a new character for his studio. This character would be none other than Mickey Mouse! In 2006, Walt Disney Studios regained the trademark for Oswald. 

The Dooney and Bourke Oswald collection features the artwork of Eric Tan. Tan worked for over 20 years as a designer at Disney Consumer Products. His artwork features Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in a variety of poses and depicting different emotions. We seem him yelling, running, smiling, acting confused and more. The collection features a monochromatic color scheme of black, white and grey. The Oswald figures are in black and white against a grey background. The handbags have black leather trims and goldtone hardware. The handbags also come with a removable leather hangtag with “Eric Tan for Disney” debossed on the front and a picture of Oswald on the back. 

The Oswald Dooney and Bourke Collection comes in three silhouettes: a satchel, mini backpack and crossbody bag.
